Potato Day 2019 Volunteers

potato day

We’re looking for a team of helpers for Potato Day 2019

We’re looking for a team of volunteer helpers again to make sure that Potato Day 2019 runs as smoothly as possible. We have options for seed packing from mid-January, and then preparing the shop unit in town, making up the pre-orders that people have made and, of course, for Potato Day itself.

PLEASE SEE THE LIST OF OPPORTUNITIES BELOW AND, IMPORTANTLY, PLEASE LET ME KNOW THAT YOU ARE AVAILABLE BY SENDING A TEXT OR EMAIL TO CONFIRM.

A) PACKING SEEDS – SUNDAY 13th JANUARY 10am to 12noon
This will take place in the caravan at the Inspire Community Garden (heated and refreshments provided). If you have a digital kitchen weigh scale and a jam funnel or small pouring jug please bring along. Maximum needed 12 people.

B) PACKING SEEDS – SUNDAY 13th JANUARY 1pm to 3pm
This will take place in the caravan at the Inspire Community Garden (heated and refreshments provided). If you have a digital kitchen weigh scale and a jam funnel or small pouring jug please bring along. Maximum needed 12 people.

C) PACKING SEEDS – SUNDAY 20th JANUARY 10am to 12noon
This will take place in the caravan at the Inspire Community Garden (heated and refreshments provided). If you have a digital kitchen weigh scale and a jam funnel or small pouring jug please bring along. Maximum needed 12 people.

D) PACKING SEEDS – SUNDAY 20th JANUARY 1pm to 3pm (This session my not be needed if progress is made in earlier sessions)
This will take place in the caravan at the Inspire Community Garden (heated and refreshments provided). If you have a digital kitchen weigh scale and a jam funnel or small pouring jug please bring along. Maximum needed 12 people.

E) DELIVERY OF SEED POTATOES – WEDNESDAY 23rd JANUARY 3.30pm – 4.30pm
This will take place in the shop unit at The Pavements which will be the same shop as last year (formerly ‘Yeoman’s Outdoor Shop’). The delivery is expected at 4pm and when we have the potatoes in the shop we arrange the room for Friday’s session and open one bag of each type in readiness.

F) MAKING UP PRE-ORDERS & SET UP SHOP – FRIDAY 25th JANUARY 2.30pm – 7.00pm
This will take place in the shop unit at The Pavements which will be the same shop as last year (formerly ‘Yeoman’s Outdoor Shop’). We have over 150 orders to make up for collection at Potato Day and then we must set up the shop unit for the following day!
As a special thank you I will arrange for pizza and chips to arrive at about 6pm, as usual!

G) POTATO DAY EVENTSATURDAY 26th JANUARY 9.00am – 3.00pm
The event opens at 10.00am and closes at 2pm. Pre-order collections can be made from 9.30am as usual. We would like a team of people able to help the customers select what they require and particularly we will require help to allow people to pay for their stuff between 10am and 11am so that we try to avoid the queues we had to pay last year.
A special request is made for another wonderful team who help us clear up and empty the shop unit between 2pm and 3pm. Last year we were clear before 3pm due to the incredible efforts made by the everyone! A world record!

If you are able to help us in any way please email or text me to confirm which sessions you can volunteer for this year. The seed packing sessions will have a maximum number of 12 people due to the size of the Inspire caravan. Please book early if you can do any of those sessions.  All of the other sessions have no maximum numbers, the more that can help, the shorter the session!

Thank you once more for your continued help and support!

Steve
