The Volunteer Centre receives many referrals requesting assistance for ‘one off’ support which in the past we are have been unable to provide.
Safe & Sound provides a team of ‘rapid response’ volunteers, so we are be able to react immediately to their needs instead of waiting for them to reach crisis point.
Providing urgent or emergency care in the home is a serious business; the Safe & Sound project will enable The Volunteer Centre to support people at their most frightened and vulnerable, and ensure a smooth referral system to other agencies within the health arena. For this reason it is essential that there is an uncomplicated system in place. Safe & Sound volunteers could be involved in a variety of tasks, including:
- Supporting people entering or returning from a spell in hospital
- Helping people to access hospital and doctor’s appointments
- Assisting people who are incapacitated with shopping and DIY tasks
- Dog walking
This list really is not exhaustive, as Safe & Sound volunteers can provide a variety of tasks and support.
If you’d like to become a Safe & Sound volunteer, please call us on 01246 276 777 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
If you would like to request a Safe & Sound volunteer to carry out a task for you or someone you know (for care professionals, this could be a client), please call us on 01246 276 777 or email: email@example.com
Please note, due to the voluntary nature of the programme we cannot guarantee to provide a volunteer or service. However, the more notice you are able to provide, the greater the chance of availability.
We have set up Community Cafes in Brimington and Chesterfield. The friendship, tea and coffee groups enable service users to get together on a weekly basis, broadening their social networks, and participating in activities.
Volunteers can help run the cafes, chatting to service users, playing games with them or if you’ve got a special skill you may be able to use that.
