The Essential Responsibilities of Trustees – Basic

This interactive workshop is designed for new trustees, or those with experience who wish to refresh, update or develop their knowledge. The workshop will cover:
– The essential responsibilities of trustees
– What makes a good trustee?
– How can trustees be more effective and add value to the organisation?
– Good practice hints and ideas

As well as considering current guidelines there will be case studies from existing charities. The emphasis of the day is practical and real; with legal and financial terms being used sparingly.

The Essential Responsibilities of Trustees – Intermediate

This interactive Workshop is designed for trustees/ management board members with reasonable experience who wish to refresh, update or develop their knowledge.

This course will concentrate on the Charity Commission’s guidance – CC10 – The Hallmarks of an Effective Charity. The hallmarks are:

– Clear about purposes and direction
– A strong board
– Fit for purpose
– Learning and improving
– Financially sound and prudent
– Accountable and transparent

These will be examined using case studies and the experiences of the course participants. The emphasis of the day will be practical and interactive learning.

Improving your Board / Management Committee Performance

This course gives advice on how to improve individual and team performance at board / management committee level.

Topics covered will include:

– Deciding what is best for the organisation at a particular time and what role the board will play in that;
– Measuring progress toward existing plans, goals and targets set by the board;
– Developing key indicators to improve the board’s governing role, thereby adding value to the organisation as a whole
– Developing an action plan for board development.

These will be examined using case studies and the experiences of the course participants.
